Texas – Clayton Tucker understands that Texas agriculture is about much more than crops and cattle. It is about the families who work the land, the water that sustains our farms, ranches and communities, the proliferation of data centers and their impact on the water supply, the school nutrition programs for our children, the food that reaches every Texas table, and the fact that the second largest industry in Texas is agriculture.
Tucker will bring firsthand experience to the Agriculture Commissioner position. Raised working on his family’s ranch in Lampasas, he grew up working with cattle, goats, sheep, and pigs and has continued this connection throughout his career. His experience as a water and agriculture researcher with the National Science Foundation deepened his understanding of the considerations farmers face. He currently serves as Secretary of the Texas Farmers Union.
Clayton Tucker is prepared to protect the Texas consumer’s food and water as well as provide support and funding to the farmers and farms that represent the economic engines in our rural areas. His commitment to farmers and his research experience make him the best and most qualified candidate for Commissioner of the Texas Department of Agriculture.
